FAQ
Why don't more filmmakers use crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo?
Crowdfunding sites are great because they allow you to reach out directly to potential investors.
However, most filmmakers do not believe they are qualified to request money. They feel that they need someone else to vouch for them.
And since they haven't proven themselves yet, they don't think anyone should invest in them.
Instead, they spend months working hard on their project in the hope that someone will notice.
Then, once they finally launch their campaign, they realize they didn't prepare properly.
Instead of thousands of dollar, they get a handful of donations.
Is Hollywood larger than Bollywood?
Producers face the greatest challenge of making sure their movie is seen by viewers.
There are so many movies out there competing for your time and money. If you don't stand out, your chances of being seen are slim.
But what makes a movie popular? What makes an actor a star? Or a director? You need to have talent but also luck. It doesn't matter if your actors are the best in the world. But a poor script will make you lose everything.
When it comes to movies, there are two main types. There are big-budget blockbusters as well as small independent productions. Blockbuster films can cost hundreds and millions of dollars to make and distribute. They're usually made by huge studios who want to ensure their movies reach as wide an audience as possible. But these big-budget films tend to appeal mainly to older audiences.
Independent films can be smaller productions funded by individuals or groups. These films usually target specific markets and appeal to specific tastes. They're usually less expensive to produce and market. But, they aren't necessarily cheaper to view. Most indie films are difficult to find.
The question is whether we need both types. Do we need big blockbuster movies and small independent ones? Hollywood is larger than Bollywood, in my opinion. Hollywood makes almost twice the number of movies each year than India.
What made Hollywood famous?
The answer was obvious. It became famous because they were willing to take risks and do something different. They made films that people would recall for years.
They were open to new ideas and had the courage of trying them out.
What's the difference of an indie movie and a foreign-language film?
A filmmaker typically makes an independent film. This is because he or she makes every decision.
The opposite is true for foreign language films. They are usually produced by a larger production company.
They often hire actors, authors, and directors who are from other countries.
Professional translators are also available to ensure that the dialogue sounds natural.
Can I create my own distribution organization?
No. Without being a distributor, you cannot legally establish a distribution company.
Even though you might not be distribution films for other people, there are still rules.
You cannot charge different prices to different theaters. You can't charge different fees for different customers.
Your services cannot be sold to any company.

How to get your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF, located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard Los Angeles, California. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents an individual who contributed to popular culture, such as television, radio or theater. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.
You will need to submit your application to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be considered for membership to the HWOF. Once submitted, your name will be sent to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. A bronze plaque with your name inscribed on it is also included. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.
You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. If the person accepts, they will be sent a second letter to confirm their acceptance. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The department issues a check payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which sends the check to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the artist or organization whose application was accepted. The fee is then paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at $12.50. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs gets the rest.
After an artist has received his/her Star, he/she can be eligible for the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due will vary depending on how long ago you were nominated. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. You would be responsible for $10,000 if you had been nominated previously in 1980.
You will need to contact Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be removed from the HWOF. They will remove your name from this list.
How old is one to be eligible for a HWOF Star?
Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To receive a Star, one must still be living at the time. One can still be nominated after receiving a star after ten years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
Family members may nominate you to be a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place an honorary marker in front of the star if there are no living relatives.
Why can't people choose to use a different street than having stars all over the place?
The HWOF was not created to be a historical landmark. It is meant to honor those who contributed to film history.
What happened to all the stars stolen? Around 1,200 stars were taken by the thieves. Each star weighs approximately 250-300 pounds, which equates to 4 tons of stars.
