Family honor-based disputes can be justifiable or unjustifiable. Some cultures consider murder for family honor to be a form of weak morality, while others view it as an external means of obedience. Some cases of murdering kin are allowed in Muslim societies such as those in the Arab region and Sicily. Feuds based solely on family honor might also be associated with illicit sexual relations.
They can be based upon violence
While feuds are often rooted by violence, they do not always stem from the same hatred. Feuds can be based on marital ties in some cases. Sometimes, these subgroups may be called feuds or wars. Other cases, however, are not dependent on marriage ties. Feuds are simply a subculture. If feuding is based on violence, it's important to understand the history of such conflicts.

The study to study cooperation adds a new dimension in the study to vengeance. This shows that a culture built upon honor is likely produce a culture where there is no retaliation for institutions that are weak.
