FAQ
What is the average number of movies Hollywood makes in a year?
Each year, Hollywood studios produce approximately 3,000 films. That's right, three thousand!
Hollywood spends billions to advertise for these movies. They spend millions on their production. And they spend millions promoting them. But how many end up actually getting seen in the theaters, do you think?
It is likely that the answer is between 200-300. What happens then to the 2,700+ remaining films? Most of them are either released direct-to-video or just sit in storage.
Not all of them will be undiscovered. Some have been chosen for distribution via Netflix or Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus and iTunes, Google Play and other platforms.
We should see more of them. They're not available in theaters. Because they're too expensive to produce.
They could also be made cheaper and put into theaters.
That's where my expertise comes in. I will assist you in finding the best possible method to release your movie in theaters.
You'll learn how to maximize your return and increase the chances of your movie being shown in theaters.
Let's face it, we all know...
Getting your film into theaters can be quite difficult. The process is complex, lengthy and involves many legalities.
It can also come at a high cost before you even begin.
The time frame in which your film can be distributed is also very limited.
There isn't enough time in between the time a movie is finished and when its theatrical run starts.
How many theaters am I required to make my investment return?
It all depends on how long your theatrical release will be running.
If you're planning to run your film for less than two weeks, you only need to open one theater.
If your film will run for more that two weeks, at least two theatres are necessary.
What's the difference between a manufacturer and a distributor?
Produced by a producer, the movie is produced. The movie is distributed via a distributor. Producors have the option to sell movies directly to distributors or theaters. Distributors buy movies from producers. They then sell them to theaters and cable channels or streaming services.
Distributors should negotiate with theater owners regarding where their movies are playing. This means that some theaters might charge more money for a certain movie than others. You should select a distributor that has multiple theaters if you want your movie seen as much as possible.

How To
How to get an honor star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce established the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.
To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you have been approved, you will be given a certificate that shows your name and details, including date of birth, place of residence, occupation, and category. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.
You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. The person who accepts the nomination will receive a second confirmation letter. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce will then pay $25. This money is forwarded to the Department of Cultural Affairs of Los Angeles.
The department issues an official check payable to Hollywood Chamber of commerce. This check is then sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays any artist or organization that submitted an application. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then pays half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs takes the other half.
After the artist has been awarded his/her star, they are eligible to join the HWOF. You must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the balance due to be included on the HWOF. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. For example, if your first nomination was in 1990, you would owe $15,000. However, if it had been in 1980, you would owe 10,000.
If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove you from the list.
How old must one be to get a HWOF star
Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To receive a coveted star, one must be at least 18 years old. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
Family members may nominate you to be a star. If no relatives are living, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce may place a memorial stone in front of your star.
Why not just have stars on every street?
The HWOF isn't meant to be an historical monument. It honors those who made history through film.
What happened with the stars that were stolen? The thieves stole around 1,200 stars. Each star is approximately 250-300 lbs in weight. That's about 4 tons of stars!
