FAQ

How much of the box office revenue goes to marketing budgets

Marketing budgets often account for 20%-40% of the film's budget. This is because marketing is critical to the success and longevity of any film.

Marketing is the only way to make sure that your film is known. No one will pay for your film if they don't know about it.

Why do so few independent films ever get distributed?

Many indie filmmakers believe that distributors will take their films.

They believe distributors will pick up their films because they know the public will love their work.

However, this is rarely the case. Distributors often profit from independent filmmakers.

They use tactics such as delaying a film's release date until after awards season has ended.

They might delay the release of low-budget films until after the summer blockbuster series has begun.

Distributors may also keep films from the public until people have already spent hundreds of money on tickets, popcorn or candy.

After all, they don't want to lose out on those profits.

What happens if my film does not perform well at the box-office?

There are many possible outcomes if your film fails to perform at the box offices.

You might want to change the marketing of your film.

You might also decide to modify the script.

You might also consider adding new characters.

Fourth, you may decide to remove certain characters.

Fifth, it is possible to decide to end the scene.

Sixth, and you might decide that it wasn't worthwhile making the film.

How To

How to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF is located in Los Angeles at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It consists of 2,711 stars embedded into the sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents an individual who contributed to popular culture, such as television, radio or theater. The HWOF currently lists 1,922 people.

To become a HWOF member, you need to submit a name to Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They then submit your details to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with your personalization is also provided. This plaque is affixed to a concrete base in front of the designated star.

If you were nominated by an HWOF member, or if there are significant contributions made to the entertainment, film, radio, theatre, and music industries, you may be eligible for a "star" award. A committee evaluates the nominations and decides whether to approve them. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the application submitted by the artist or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce pays half of the $12.50 fee to the artist or organization. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

After the artist has been awarded his/her star, they are eligible to join the HWOF. To be included in the HWOF, your balance must be paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The amount due will vary depending on how long ago you were nominated. For example, $15,000. Suppose you were first nominated as a nominee in 1990. You'd owe $10,000 if you were previously nominated in 1990.

To remove yourself from HWOF, contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They will help you pay the remaining debt. They will remove your name from this list.

How old does one have to get a star on the HWOF?

To be nominated, one must be at least 18 years. To receive a coveted star, one must be at least 18 years old. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Your family members can nominate you for a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place an honorary marker in front of the star if there are no living relatives.

Why don't people just use a different street instead of having stars all over the place?

The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It is meant to honor those who contributed to film history.

What happened to the stars that got stolen? The thieves stole approximately 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250-300 lbs, so if you add up all the weight, that comes out to about 4 tons worth of stars!
